GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The 3rd AFRICOM General Assembly and Conference constitute a unique occasion for museum heritage professionals to exchange ideas and experiences as well as build personal and institutional networks. This 3rd General Assembly and Conference follows the successful 1st AFRICOM General Assembly and Conference held in Nairobi, Kenya in 2003 and the 2nd AFRICOM General Assembly and Conference held in Cape Town, South Africa in 2006. Apart from the discussion and networking opportunities, the 3rd AFRICOM General Assembly and Conference will also result in an articulated programme of activities for AFRICOM for 2009 to 2012, and the election of a new board of directors.

The host country for the 3rd AFRICOM General Assembly and Conference is Burkina Faso through the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Communication. Therefore, the Directorate General of Cultural Heritage, together with the AFRICOM Secretariat are organising this General Assembly on behalf the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Communication.

The 3rd AFRICOM General Assembly and Conference will bring together AFRICOM members and other heritage professionals, potential stakeholders and funding partners from within and outside the African continent. Hence it’s an exchange forum for cultural heritage professionals and institutions who are playing a significant role in museums and cultural heritage management on the African continent. .
