Call for Articles AFRICOM News: 9th Edition!

AFRICOM News is an annual publication that provides a forum for networking among museum professionals in Africa. It is also a platform for AFRICOM to profile current activities in museums for the benefit of its membership and partners. We sincerely thank all our contributors who made the publication of the 8th edition a success. The 9th edition of this newsletter is geared towards promoting the sharing of knowledge and new ideas or models of best practices that will enrich African heritage professionals in the museums sector.

The Editorial team of AFRICOM News is therefore pleased to announce the call for contributions for this 9th edition. AFRICOM desires you to submit original articles on the tremendous efforts and developments by cultural players in Africa. The articles may cover any aspect of museology (ranging from documentation, international museums celebrations, conservation, illicit traffic of artefacts or even cultural partnerships emerging in our continent, public programming, notable professional or other development activities and events for your museum in 2010, to the establishment of new museums etc). You may also submit articles related to emerging issues in the heritage sector of Africa. We are pleased to provide this opportunity for African museum professionals to publish their innovative and original ideas and activities!

Submission requirements:

• Submit articles in English or French,
• Article should be between five hundred and one thousand (500-1000) words
• Include photos or illustrations of activities in JPEG format, 300dpi or 2MB [please note the captions indicating activity are required with the following information; name of event, place, date, names of persons/things depicted in the photos/illustrations etc].

Don’t miss the opportunity to let other museum professionals know about your museum! Remember that this is your forum as AFRICOM members and as African museum professionals.

Your active participation will reach and enrich a diverse readership in Africa and beyond!

Please submit all your articles and images/illustrations to secretariat@africom.museum by 9th of August 2010. You will be informed if your article has been selected for publishing by the editorial committee.
