French Intern on 4 Months Attachment

Valérie Alpanes, was born in 1983 in Vénissieux, France. She has been involved in many cultural events and activities in different associations in France. She has a degree in Cultural Management and is currently pursuing a Master in the same field at the Aix-Marseille III University, France.

In 2003, she participated in a 2 months internship programme at the Fine Arts Museum of Lyon, France and spent another 3 months at the Royal Museum of Central Africa in Tervuren, Belgium. In both instances, she took part in the activities of the Educational Department. Valérie joined AFRICOM for 4 months as an intern which has been a valuable experience for her in gaining some know-how in the field of museum and cultural management which have helped her thesis about the social problems facing African ethnographic museums. In September 2005, she will begin an M.A of Museology at the Montreal University, Canada.
