ICTOP Annual Conference and Call for Papers
ICOM-ICTOP, the International Committee for the Training of Personnel, is holding its Annual Meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, from 8-10 October 2006
Museum workers around the world enter the museum community by many different routes and with many different kinds of education and training. Learning opportunities for increasing museum knowledge and skills are often available at different stages throughout their career.
ICOM-ICTOP, the International Committee for the Training of Personnel is concerned primarily with museum-specific knowledge and skills for museum workers of all kinds, and in the excellence and accessibility of training opportunities for workers around the world.
During this meeting in South Africa, participants will look at the variety of programs which are available to Africans and under what conditions those programs are accessible to African museum workers.
Workshops will create a template of the range of training possibilities and examine the training issues for African museum workers with a view to identifying ICTOP's future plans.
